My blog about my trip around The United States on Bicycle. Yes, by Bicycle. Camping in a tent and cycling everyday, I'll update as much as possible about my experiences and give advice to fellow beginner cyclists who want to get into touring.
Hey I loosely followed this for gear: http://www.adventuresportsonline.com/bikechklist.htm
I have a Trek 520. I added a Brooks B17 saddle and different rear rack. I have 5 panniers: 2 front, 2 back, and 1 handlebars pannier. All of which are Ortileb. My stove is a Jetboil, and my tent is a mountain hardware Sprite 1. I have 2 extra tubes and 1 extra tire on me, Duct Tape, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, 3 cycling jerseys (1 of which is a long sleeve), 2 pairs of long underwear, an athletic hooded sweatshirt, ASUS eee pc netbook, warm / cold weather gloves, multiple multiple paris of socks (I hate re-using socks), med kit, multi tool that can be used to fix my chain, 3 of those pastic hook things to take off my tire to repair a flat (sorry I forgot the name), cell phone, wind-up / solar radio that can charge anything connected by usb, rain gear, a handheld garmen (I chose a handheld rather than one that fits on my bike because I want to use it for emergencies. I really want to just use adventure cycling maps for this trip), and some other minor things I may have forgotten...head lamp, toenail clippers..bla bla bla
Do you have a gear list of what you will be leaving with? That might be interesting to see.
